About the Scholarship Program
We invite all prospective and current post-secondary students to complete the application (based on eligibility criteria) to share with us how the mining industry has inspired your future career aspirations!
We are here to support the communities in which our employees work and live; we want to hear from the mining professionals of tomorrow!
Scholarships Awarded

$5,000 Gary Lauria Memorial Scholarship
-
Will be awarded to an applicant who exhibits passion and dedication to the mining industry. In honour of Gary Lauria, a long time employee of Macassa Mine who passed away in early 2021. Gary had more than 40 years of experience in various ascending positions within the mining industry. Early in his mining career, Gary joined Ontario Mine Rescue and competed on many teams throughout his tenure, winning District Championships from 1985 - 1988. Gary was committed to the success and safety of Macassa and our employees in every way, we are confident that Gary would be honoured to have his name commemorated through a bursary to help a young, future mining professional on their journey!

$5,000 Elizabeth Hagan Memorial Scholarship

Elizabeth Hagan was a long time employee of Macassa Mine, and an avid and talented photographer. She was a member of the Multicultural Society and sought to bring the community together through her art. This scholarship in her memory will be awarded to a student pursuing the arts with a passion for community and inclusion.

$5,000 Macassa Excellence in Mining Award

This award is given to a student who has experience in the Kirkland Lake Camp , and a keen interest to return!

$2,500 Agnico Eagle Scholarship

Six scholarships will be awarded to students who have been impacted or shaped by the mining industry and are, or will be, pursuing a specific career based on this experience.

General Eligibility Criteria:

The required application question is completed in full.

Successful completion of Secondary School Diploma.

Proof to Agnico Eagle Ontario of Acceptance to program of study in related field is available and provided.

Current contact information is provided to Agnico Eagle Ontario for awarding purposes.

Consent for Agnico Eagle Ontario to publish your receipt of scholarship funds on company webpage and internal newsletter.
Deadline for Submissions will be June 30, 2022 at 11:59 PM!
Successful candidates will be notified via email by August 3, 2022!
